The Brazilian coffee production experienced a hard time in the past three years.
First it was the outbreak of COVID-19 that crippled the global economy and logistics in 2019, then a drought in 2020, only to be followed by a historic frost in 2021 that shrunk the total production by at least 30%. As a result, we witnessed dwindling Brazilian coffee quality with hiking prices year on year due to severe supply shortage.
Nevertheless, we tried our best to keep offering Brazilian coffees in our lineup as we know that many of our fellow crackpots love the chocolate/nutty/spicy flavour with low acidity in Brazilian coffees.
Quoting our senior barista, "this is like biting into a chocolate hazelnut bar!"
There is also a slight hint of floral aroma that comes after the heavier notes have passed.
On the Naming of the Coffee
At The Crackpots Coffee Roaster, we always try to help beginners and advanced drinkers alike to understand more about coffees. One of our efforts is to explain the various cryptic names of coffees which could be confusing.
Here’s a breakdown of this coffee:
Brazil |
Brazil is a South American country, having the name "the world's coffee farm" because it supplies 1/3 of the world's coffee demand. |
Fazenda Santo Andre |
The name of the producing farm, where Fazenda literally means an estate or large farm in Portugal, Brazil, and other Portuguese-speaking countries. Fazenda Santo Andre cultivates coffees at an altitude of 800-1300m, and is located near the Pratinha city of Cerrado region, within the state of Minas Gerais. |
