This time, we bring to you yet another amazing curation from the 2016 world barista champion - Berg Wu! And this time, it's a washed coffee (yayyy) from Yirgacheffe Wuri!

You can expect everything a good washed coffee should have! It is clean, with well structured citric acidity and a sweetness at the end that reminds us of peach.

In collaboration with Pebble Coffee, Berg Wu (World Barista Champion 2016 and the founder of Simple Kaffa) has been given opportunities to curate the best coffees on the cupping table in Ethiopia, as well as to work directly with producers for customized processing methods.

For several years, Berg Wu consistently selected amazing coffees to be carried under his name, ranging from washed coffees to natural coffees to special experimental processing methods. We have also release two of his selections back in 2019 and 2020.

Wuri is a coffee processing station in the mountains of Worka-Sakaro, a small locality in the Gedeb district (close to Yirgacheffe). Located at an altitude of 2000m, the name Wuri itself means "high altitude", and you can definitely expect dense coffee from the washing station which collects fresh harvest from nearby farmers.

On the Naming of the Coffee

At The Crackpots Coffee Roaster, we always try to help beginners and advanced drinkers alike to understand more about coffees. One of our efforts is to explain the various cryptic names of coffees which could be confusing.
