Kenya Nyeri Kiandu AB

Ever since we happily slipped and fell into the caffeine rabbit hole, we have always heard nothing but good things about Kenyan coffees according to the internet anecdotes, especially the washed ones. In our excitement, we explored Kenyan washed, and like many beginners - we ended up scrunching our faces by the extremely acidic notes.

Little did we know that quality of Kenyan specialty coffees for the past few years have been subpar and dropped to their worst in the past two years (2020-2021 harvest). When we stumble upon this Kenya Nyeri Kiandu AB offered by Falcon Coffees, we were so happy to rediscover Kenyan coffees that are decent.With notes of grapefruit and blueberry-like acidity, this coffee has a surprising sweetness that reminds us of maple as well as hints of cola. We roast this coffee as a light roast to retain its amazing characteristics and structured acidity.

Officially called the Republic of Kenya, is a country in East Africa. Home to vigorous wildlife like lions, elephants and rhinos.

Nyeri

Nyeri is a county located in the central region of Kenya, where the capital and largest town is Nyeri town.

Kiandu

A coffee factory (central/washing station) just outside of Tetu Village near Nyeri Town in the Karundu area.

AB

Grade AB consist of both A and B coffee beans, where A grade is sorted using a 6.8 mm screen while the B grade is sorted using a 6.2 mm screen according to Kenyan's coffee processing standard. Other grades are: E, PB, AA, AB, C, TT, T MH/ML.
