Brief Background of Huehuetenango
Guatemala Huehuetenango in the western part of Guatemala is a familiar name to coffee drinkers across the world. Among the three non-volcanic regions of Guatemala, Huehuetenango is the highest with an elevation of around 1800m; it is also the driest among them with an annual average rainfall of around 1147mm, with a subtropical highland climate where mean daily temperature ranges from 15-19°C.
The above factors form a very optimal condition for arabica coffee farming in Huehuetenango. As a contrasting reference, Malaysia, as a tropical country, has an average temperature of 27.63 and 2500mm of rainfall, with an average elevation of 600m. Such climate is perfect for many other crops thrive in Malaysia, too bad it’s just not the best for our beloved arabica coffees.
